Jason walked determinedly towards Hazimi town with his beloved Litleo, Lily, by his side. The two had been walking since early in the morning when he had snuck out of his house in Metaru city and ran away from home. He was starting to get tired and hungry, but he didn't plan on stopping until he got his starter from the pokemon lab and they were almost there. They had just started into route 201 when Jason suddenly tripped on a fair sized stone and fell to the ground. "Shit! That wasn't there yesterday." He grumbled, turning and glaring in the direction where he assumed the stone was laying innocently on the ground. This was exactly why he left home in the first place. He wanted to prove to everyone that he could take care of himself and that being blind wasn't as much of a handicap as they seemed to think it was. And what does he do? He trips on a rock before he has even started.
Lily walked up and licked his hand. "Are you okay, Jason?" She asked through a giggle. He huffed at her as he got up and brushed off his pants. "Yea, I'm fine." "Well then come on! We're almost to the town!" Lily squealed, jumping around excitedly. The teen smiled fondly as he listened to how happy she was. "Alright. Am I still facing the right way?" The little Litleo looked around for a moment to determine where the path was. "Yep~ The path is still straight ahead of you." Jason nodded and quickly kept walking, pretending that the fall had never happened. As the two walked, Lily would constantly start skipping around and Jason would simply smile at her enthusiasm. He knew she was excited about making a new friend. He was excited too.
After walking a little while longer, Jason realized that he no longer heard Lily's footsteps beside him. "Lily? Are you okay?" He asked nervously as he turned slowly, trying to listen for her. "Yea, I'm over here," He heard from a few feet behind him. He started walking toward her voice. "That egg is still sitting there, Jason." Jason froze mid-step and his eyes widened slightly. There's no way a pokemon would just abandon it's egg like that. "You... You mean that Houndour egg we found yesterday?" He severely hoped she would say no. "yea," Damn. "I sniffed around and there hasn't been a Houndoom around at all either." Jason frowned at this. It was very rare that a pokemon would just leave it's egg like that; especially a fire type pokemon. Fire type eggs need to be kept warm almost constantly. He continued to frown in Lily and the egg's direction wondering what he should do. On one hand he was terrified of fire type pokemon and, other than Lily, didn't want one on his team, but on the other hand he couldn't just leave the poor thing there. There's no way the egg would survive another night away from it's mother.
He took a deep breath as he finally made up his mind. "Lead me to the egg, please, Lily." Lily was shocked to hear the determination in her friends voice, knowing how scared he was of fire types after the accident when they were young. She padded over to him and nudged his leg in the direction of the egg. Jason took small steps, not wanting to possibly trip on the egg and harm it. "Okay, stop. If you kneel down, it's right in front of you." He took another deep breath and let it out slowly as he did just that. He reached his hands out slowly until his fingertips brushed the shell of the egg. He felt the faint warmth coming from it and nodded to himself. He pulled the backpack he'd been carrying off, opened the largest pocket where he kept his clothes, and made a space inside. He then gently picked up the egg and set it inside. Lily stared, surprised, but happy about what Jason was doing. Perhaps raising a fire type would help him get over his fears. He zipped it back up and stood up, carefully putting it back on. "Alright, Lily, let's get going"
The Litleo smiled and padded back over to the trail as her best friend followed carefully behind her, following the sound of her footsteps. The rest of their walk to Hazimi town was uneventful and two were soon standing outside the doors of the Pokemon Lab. Jason smiled down at Lily. "You ready to start our adventure?" "Absolutely!" She shouted with a small roar. He smiled wider as he opened the door and they stepped inside. As soon as the door closed behind him though, he realised his mistake. When the two had visited yesterday they hadn't actually come inside the building and so he wasn't sure where he was supposed to go. His smile dropped from his face as he turned in a circle trying to listen for any voices. "Just great..." He thought to himself.
"Oh dear oh dear oh dear..." Pacing back and forth, Melody tried to calm her racing heart. She had just let a trainer leave the lab without their first starter because of her clumsy and nervous demeanor. She didn't have the heart to tell him you could only take ONE starter so no...no that trainer didn't leave with their first starter...they left with their first TWO starters! What was she going to do?!? The professor would be so disappointing and...
"Melody...? Someone is here..." Her soul pokemon, a little oddish, pulled on her skirt lightly with one of her leafs. She seemed to be blushing as she stared out at the duo, tilting her head. "Ack! Another trainer?!" Melody turned on her heel, staring with wide eyes at the strange partners by the door. "H..Hello!" She spoke with a crack in her voice, quickly bowing to greet them. "MynameisMelodyandI..." He sentence ran together as she nervously spoke, pausing to take a deep breath. "M..my name is Melody and I'll be your helper for today...you're hear for a starter right? W..Wait here..." She quickly darted out of the room with a bright red face, not even noticing the other was blind and couldn't tell she was flustered.
She didn't take long to return, stepping over to a computer and tossing three pokeballs so all the pokemon held within could greet the new trainer and she began to type.
The three pokemon that came out all stood before Jason and Lily, lined up for all of two seconds before Taillow took to the sky and approached Jason, smiling with glee. "Well aren't you a sight. Clearly complimentary to my beautiful plumage. Be a dear and...oh..hold on..." She landed on his head, trying to smooth out a few loose strands. Meanwhile, Blitzle eyed the duo with a sigh, shaking his head. "I am Blitzle. Don't mind her. She can be a bit bane." Taillow didn't take kind to the harrasment, taking off from the Jason's head and hovering in front of Blitzle. "I think you mean vane you idiot and I am far from such! It is not my fault my beauty is under appreciated!" All the while, during the arguing, a small male bulbasaur began to sneak toward them, eyeing the two carefully. "Your eyes...I see....I'm Bulbasaur. The one who's trying to sound smart is Blitzle and the one arguing with him is Taillow." He spoke in a calm voice, describing the others for Jason. Bulbasaur seemed to have noticed that Jason was blind.

Jason jumped at the unexpected voice and spun to face it. He couldn't see it, but the woman seemed to be very flustered. Perhaps this was the first time she had ever helped a trainer? He decided to give a small smile to hopefully calm her down. "Hi my name's Jason and yea, I'm here to get my starter, I was wondering if you cou-" Before he had the chance to explain to Melody that he was blind and didn't know where to go, she was gone. Jason sighed and decided to just wait for her to return. "Well she sure was weird..." Lily said, staring after the pair. "Hush, Lily, that's not nice." The small Litleo looked up at him with a small frown "Sorry, Jason..."
It wasn't much longer before he heard hurried footsteps returning his way. They stopped a little bit away and he heard three pokeballs open and the pokemon inside come out. He assumed they were the starters she brought him to choose and wondered what they were. Lily smiled and was about to say hello when the Taillow suddenly flew up to Jason. Said teen jumped back at the sudden voice in front of his face. He knew then that at least that one was a flying type. He frowned when it landed on his head. This pokemon sure was full of itself. He turned to the new voice. A Blitzle huh? Lily frowned when the Taillow and Blitzle started to fight and padded up to them. "Hey! You two should stop that! Fighting isn't very nice." Jason was about to also step in when a soft voice distracted him. He smiled and kneeled down in front of the pokemon. "Hi there Bulbasaur. My name is Jason and my partner over there is Lily. I suppose I should thank you for being the only one to notice there was something wrong with my eyes"
Taillow and Blitzle seemed to be ignoring Lily, bickering back and forth to each other. They continued to talk over one another so it was impossible to pinpoint who was saying what at this point, their words meshing together with each and every word. Back and forth they hurled insults, one side making no sense while the other side used frivolous comments that wouldn't reach the others ears. None the less, as the two continued at it, Bulbasaur sighed, shaking his head as if denying what Jason had said to him.
"Your eyes have nothing wrong with them, Jason. They are eyes. They simply do not see the world like we do." The Bulbasaur wasn't particularly old but he spoke with wisdom beyond his years. Cautiously, he moved closer to Jason, sitting before him. He let out a vine, gently touching Jason's hand. "Let me guide you. The two bickering mean no ill will if you'd like to meet them." He wrapped the vine gently around the mans hand, escorting him over to Lily, Blitzle, and Taillow.
Meanwhile, Melody glanced up, watching the group curiously. She had just finished filling out the trainer card when she noticed that Jason was interacting with Bulbasaur. How interesting.

Jason's unseeing eyes went wide at Bulbasaur's words. He had never had anyone tell him that there was nothing wrong with his eyes even though he was blind before. Even Lily had never worded it that way. He could feel tears about to leak out, but he held them back. "Th-thank you... That really means a lot to me." He heard the pokemon move closer and so didn't get scared when a vine suddenly touched his hand. He smiled at his offer and stood up. "I'd love to meet them better, thank you"
As they got closer to the other three pokemon, he could hear Lily's voice ringing through the din. "Seriously guys, you have to stop this! You aren't setting very good examples!" Jason frowned. Lily didn't get angry often and when she did, it wasn't long before she used Noble Roar to try and stop whatever it was. He could tell that would be a very bad thing right now and tried to think of a quick way to end the fighting. Then he suddenly remembered how vain and full of itself the Taillow had been and got a brilliant idea. "You guys really should listen to Lily. I mean, Taillow, if you continue to bicker like this, you may cause some of your beautiful feathers to fall out of place. I definitely don't want that, so would you please stop?" Jason said, still holding onto bulbasaur's vine and severely hoping that it worked.
Bulbasaur bowed his head as he took the thanks, holding tight to Jason's hand as the wise pokemon led him over to the other two who were still ignoring Lily. He sighed, shaking his head and laying on the floor but not releasing the trainers hand so he would feel confident in his surroundings. "They're always like this. It's nothing new to be honest. They have a confliction of interests." He explained, eyeing Lily who seemed rather upset over the bickering. "It might be best to let the sleeping poochyena's lie."
Blitzle was about to retort back at Taillow who had puffed p her chest angrily when the small bird heard the compliment and sighed. "You're right. The life of a beauty holds us to strict principles." Fluttering over to the counter near Melody, Taillow relaxed, sighing softly. "I believe I will sit this one out. I have much work to do." She began to clean her feathers, being careful to make sure they were in place.
Blitzle sighed and shook his head as well, but unlike Bulbasaur, he seemed to be upset that someone would argue with him. "To question my wealth of knowledge. How shrewd."
