BATTLE RULES
health pointsHealth Points will be measured by what level your pokemon is. From level 1 to level 6 your pokemon's health will remain 20 hp. After level 6 your pokemon's health will be 3x its current level. An example of this would be:
Level 7 : 21 hp
Level 8 : 24 hp
Level 9 : 27 hp
Level 10 : 30 hp
So on and so forth.
level differencesOur site does have levels. As such there will be level differences. When a pokemon is higher than the pokemon it is battling it will do base damage plus the number of levels it is higher by. Same level will do normal base damage.
statsMembers are required to post their stats at the beginning of each and every battle. These stats are given when you first gain the pokemon. You do not have to put the entire list of stats but we ask that you at least put the sprite, and the battle statistics section.

base powerSo what about all of those moves that have a power of 30 or more? What if originally i used bite, a move with 60 points of base damage? What do i do then? Our site handles it a bit differently then the games. For each 10 points of power, you get 1 point. So, for a move of 60 power, you would get 6 points. 30 would be 3. 150 would be 15, etc.
stabSo your Pokemon is a Dark type, and it uses a Dark move, so it naturally has STAB. How do we handle this? If your Pokemon uses a move with STAB, you can go ahead and add a +1 to the counter for damage.
effectivityAll Pokemon are weaker, or more resistant, to some moves than others, correct? Water is weak to Grass. Grass is weak to Fire. Fire is weak to Water. And so on. Here's how to calculate that when determining the damage:
x0 - This usually means that the Pokemon is completely Immune to moves of that type. If that's the case, then you can discard doing all of this altogether - it won't do any damage at all.
x1 - This is normal damage. It means that your Pokemon is not weak, immune, or resistant to the move type.
x2 - Your Pokemon has a x2 weakness to that type,
x4 - This usually comes from dual type Pokemon with both types resistant to the type used.
So how do you calculate this? If your Pokemon is either x2 or x4, you will multiply by 2 or 4 respectively in the formula.
stat infecting movesStat effecting moves such as growl, or howl will add or decrease the base damage that every pokemon will start with. As such you should keep track of this in your post as to how much you are gaining or losing. In the formula we provide for reference, you will notice that there's a stat changes section. This only needs to be paid attention to if you have any stat changes on your attack or special attack. if so, add or subtract this there. For stat changes such as Accuracy, that's up to both you and the opponent to decide how to deal with: the less accuracy you have, the easier they can dodge your attacks. Please keep in mind that if you have any negatives in defense stats, you will lose +1 point of damage for each point.
hp draining statsStats such as poison and burn will normally take half of the current base damage per turn. So please refer to the base damage part for that.
other statsStats such as paralyze, frozen and sleep. On our rp, sleep will normally last for three turns. It may be awoken if attacked by a move such as uproar and dream eater. It may also be awoken by a awakening. As for paralyze, whatever area of the pokemon that was hit by the paralyze is the only thing affected. Your pokemon may be able to move while paralyzed but be realistic please. As for frozen, the pokemon will normally not thaw out unless attacked by a fire type move, or hit with a physical attack 2 times. Otherwise frozen lasts for 3 turns.
formulaWe provide you a formula for help in determining the damage you will take when in a battle. If you have any questions with this, please ask for assistance from a staff member and we will help you as best as we can!
Damage = ((BASEDAMAGE +- LEVELDIFFERENCE +-STATCHANGES
+ BASEPOWER + STAB) + EFFECTIVITY) / 2
common senseRemember in a battle to use common sense. Damage is NOT set in stone, therefore the formula provided is just a guide. The way your Pokemon reacts to the attack can either add or subtract damage taken, it's all up to you and how you play it out. Also remember that you are more than encouraged to use the environment to your advantage, so please do so. Battling is all up to common sense.
wild pokemonIf you would like a wild pokemon in your thread please place the word [mod] in the title of your thread somewhere. It is your choice whether you want your thread open for other people to join with you.
movesPokemon are allowed to have eight moves on this site a piece. Meaning you can have up to six naturally learned moves, and two tm and hm slots. You may purchase tms or earn them other ways during rp. The only other way your pokemon can learn moves is through leveling.
