The young boy had never liked being alone, but there wasn't much he could do about that problem. Kei had decided his fate a long time ago when he had fled from the shelter that had kept him for the last two years of his life. Even if the life on the road was hard and he was living day to day it was much better than that place. Back there no one had cared and a lot of kids had been mean to him even when he had tried to be their friend. Of course running away probably wasn't the best of ideas as now they were searching for the young boy.
That was why he had come to Hazumi. There was word that anyone could become a friend to pokeon here. Of course there were different ways to do that, such as being a trainer, doing contests, and breeding. Kei didn't think he had the heart to order pokemon around so he knew he couldn't be a trainer. As for coordination, he didn't guess that was bad, but he wasn't very coordinated himself so it probably wouldnt' work out well. Guess that only left one, yes, he guessed he could be a breeder then. That way he could make pokemon happy right? It sounded like the best thing for someone like him.
The young boy found his way to the huge building that had the lettering "pokemon center" on the outside. He was curious what he would find here. Maybe he would be able to pick some new friends that he could go home with. Or maybe he should probably asked what being a breeder actually entailed. That would probably be a good start since the young boy didn't know all that much about it after all. A small pout came over his face as he thought of which to do first.
Scratching his head he entered the center still pondering. "U-Um.. can someone help me?" he called a bit shakily. He wasn't quite sure what this person was going to be like after all. W-What if they were mean too? With more questions in his head made the poor boy scratch his head even more trying to figure out what to do. With a quick thought however the boy stopped his scratching as his hand gently moved around the flute hanging from his neck. Ah yes, this would help him calm down.
Without a second thought the young boy began to play, as soft notes filled the center for anyone who wished to listen.
It would be a lie to say that the Pokemon Center wasn't relatively full. After all, it was a place trainers, particularly new trainers starting out on their journey, came to restore their Pokemon or buy a few items. It was also one of the largest in the region - they did have to hold Pokemon eggs for new breeders after all, right? So it was believable when one said it wasn't empty. Granted, other than the people who belonged in there, it was mostly empty. But one had to remain optimistic, right? These were the new generation of the world, and these were their future. They deserved the best.
So when the young little boy came into the Pokemon Center, looking all shy and lost, he attracted quite a few stares. One of them which was the nurse of this center, Nurse Joy. As soon as the boy called out she started to come out from behind the counter and go to hm. At his music she paused and listened to him, a soft smile coming over her face. He was good at the flute. Moving quietly towards him, she started a gentle clapping. The young boy's music attracted quite a few onlookers as he played. She couldn't help but wonder if he was going to become a Breeder, or was just lost. Maybe a bit of both. He didn't seem to have any Pokeballs on him. He had a soul Pokemon, she was sure, but not actual Pokemon.
But she wouldn't interrupt his playing until he was done with it, she didn't want to disturb what looked to be calming him down.
The young breeder wasn't quite used to so many different kind of people. He was used to being on his own, so when so many people seemed to surround him, it was obvious that he was quite afraid. It wasn't like the young boy to shy away easily, but when he was faced with something so terrifying it wasn't that odd. As well as other stress that seemed to pile on top of his head. He was a child after all and Kei had yet to really be able to understand the pokemon world and this was the start of it.
Thankfully, he had one way of clearing his head. The soft tones instantly filled the center as the young boy closed his eyes. At the music however a small head seemed to pop out from out of the back of his shirt. A sleepy little bear seeming to have woken up from a nap.. inside the boy's shirt. ("Kei-san, Why are you playing music so early.) it squeaked a little as a soft yawn seemed to come from it. Such words were lost upon the music as the little bear instead looked where his soul had taken him.
Immediately the little puffball of a bear jumped out of his owner's shirt to the floor near his leg. They were at the pokemon center weren't they! He had missed everything while he was asleep and that caused a small pout to form on the ice bear's face. ("No fair Kei-san, you were supposed to wake me when we got here.") the pout on the little bears face couldn't have made it look any cuter. The music however slowly came to a close as the young boy finished and opened his eyes again.
"A-Ah! Sorry, I forgot, and got a little nervous." he finally replied to the little cubchoo at his feet. Only then did he notice the woman and her clapping. A small flush crossed his face as he seemed to squirm a little now. "S-Sorry for playing in your center, I just got a little scared was all. I hope i wasn't a bother to anyone. " he said. It seemed the two were the perfect pair together, as Kei's blue braided locks swayed side to side behind him.
The crowd of people that were listening in on him playing were quiet during the song except for one or two small whispers. None of them wanted to bother the young boy playing in front of them. However, when he finished, the small crowd clapped for him and after a while dispersed. Nurse Joy, however, stayed behind, a gentle smile on her face as him and the cute little Cubchoo spoke. The little boy was adorable, she thought. And the cute companion of his was quite fitting. He seemed a bit lost though. Moving over to him as he spoke, a gentle smile on her face, she shook her head. "You didn't bother anyone, I assure you." she spoke in a gentle voice.
Kneeling to his height, she laid a hand on top of his head. "I'm Nurse Joy, the nurse of this Pokemon Center. Could I ask who you two are? Are you here to start out as a Breeder?" she asked, always speaking in a soft voice so she didn't frighten the boy. If he were here for Pokemon to start his journey, she was sure this young boy would make friends with them easily.
Kei felt a bright flush creep up his face when he heard everyone clap for him. He wasn't used to playing for anyone but pokemon so a bright flush continued to heat up his cheeks. "t-thank you." he whispered quickly. The young child was actually quite pleased with himself that he had done so well but was really happy. Kei felt at ease now that the woman said he hadn't bothered anyone... and she was pretty important. The young boy eased now happy that she was so calm with him. Maybe all his worries were things that he shouldn't have worried about.
The young child didn't mind when she put her hand on his head. "Hello miss, my name is Kei and this is Benji." he said motioning to the young bear type. Benji however seemed to become afraid of the woman and hid behind Kei's leg. He smiled a bit and swayed some. "Yes please miss, I'd like to be a breeder if you would let me." he said flushing some. He hoped he could be one.. he really didn't have much otherwise.
The boy was actually quite good at the flute, so people were more than happy to clap for him. Nurse Joy waited until they were dispersed before approaching him. She gave him a gentle smile, secretly thinking the flush on his face was absolutely adorable. What a cute little kid. "I see... Kei and Benji. It's nice to meet the two of you." She let out a soft chuckle when the little Cubchoo hid however. She slowly stood up and nodded some. "Why I certainly wouldn't tell you no. I'm sure you will be a wonderful breeder and make lots of friends. If you will just give me a moment, I think I have some Pokemon you would love." she spoke softly. And with that she turned around and left for the moment.
It wouldn't be long until she returned though with three little Pokemon scurrying up behind her. A bright silver Eevee was the first to rush up to Kei, and quickly rubbed against his leg, almost like a cat. "Hi hi hi!" The words flew out in a rush, almost unrecognizable. "I wanna come with you! I do, I do! I promise I'll be good! Please please pleassseeeeee!" A small Aron actually passed right by them and bumped straight into the wall without a second glance. It didn't seem to actually have seen it... "O-oh pardon me! I-I didn't see you there!" the small, quivering voice came out. All of this was proceeded by an aggravated sigh from a blue turtle. "You children I swear..." he grumbled. He waddled over to the Aron and picked her up in his arms, stumbling back over to the nurse and this new breeder. "Please excuse them. They tend to get worked up."
Nurse Joy let out a small chuckle. She hoped that Kei would like two of these three Pokemon she had brought for him.
Kei was overjoyed that the nurse thought so highly of him. There weren't many out there that did after all, and it was nice to hear it. A small giggle came from the boy and a bright smile that quickly followed. "I really appreciate it miss. I'll make sure to wait right here for you." he said with a giggle. The young breeder was quite amused now as he swayed back and forth happily to a beat only he seemed to hear.
That was when pokemon seemed to shoot out from wherever the nurse had gone and a small squeak came from benji. The eevee however was instantly cuddled right back by young kei. "Oh I'm sure you would!" he said nuzzling up against its cheek. The next one out managed to hit its head on the wall and the young breeder was instantly worried. "Are you okay?!" he called moving to it and patting it on the head. "Be a little more careful okay?" he said with a bright smile.
The last out was a squirtle. He tilted his head some at the blue pokemon. "I'm sure they didn't mean any harm mr. squirtle. They were just having some fun. Everyone needs some fun every once in a while." he giggled now. These pokemon were just awesome, and he wished he could take them all with him. "Ah! They are all so cute and sweet!" he said not sure what to really do.
The Pokemon seemed overexcited to see him. Especially the little Eevee. He seemed to be the most excited of all of them. He nuzzled happily in Kei's arms since he was cuddling him back. Ahhh he was so warm and comfy! He didn't want to move at all! "Don't make me move! I want to stay right here!" Ah, he liked cuddling so much. He was very glad that Kei didn't mind. Maybe that was a good sign. Maybe he would take him with him! Oh, how he would love that! He nuzzled up into his arms, curling his tail around him and Kei's arm, and just stayed right there unless he was put down.
The little Aron was just limp in the Squirtle's arms as she was carried. She had terrible eye sight problems sometimes. The Squirtle though didn't seem to really mind carrying her thankfully. "I-I can do good in battle! I-I won't disappoint you, I promise!" Tears seemed to actually well up in her eyes just at the thought of it. She didn't want to be a disappointment to anyone anymore. She wanted to go with someone, and be loved, and make them proud... Not like the trainer who had last abandoned her. The trainer who had left her behind here, fed up with how useless she was because of her eye sight....
Finally, the Squirtle let out a sigh and set her down. "He's not going to be a trainer, I doubt he cares much about your fighting ability." he sighed. The two of them got worked up so easily. "I'm sure you're right." he added to Kei. The two of them were just lonely children, hoping for someone to take care of them and love them like they deserved to be. As a proud Papa!Squirtle, he kind of hoped the best for them. They deserved it. The Lab wasn't exactly lonely, but neither of them belonged cooped up here and the kid seemed kind enough.
Nurse Joy was smiling softly though. "It seems they all like you." she spoke gently to Kei.
Kei was just happy that the little eevee seemed to like cuddling almost as much if the same amount as he did. Kei was content to just hold him in his arms. Kenji however seemed to warm up to the little eevee and he moved his paw to slightly pat the pokemon on the head as well. ("I guess he'd be nice to bring with us..") he said a little shakily being that he was so skittish around people he had just met.
Kei laughed a little but he definitely wanted to bring him along, he liked all the cuddles he offered. The little aron however made the poor kid super sad. A gentle hand moved to pat the pokemon on the head gently. "Don't you worry little one, I'm sure you won't disappoint me... " he said adding a soft smile to reassure the other pokemon. He didn't mind about the aron's sight, that just made him special. A small giggle came from the child. "I'm sure you're gonna do a lot of super special things in your lifetime. I'd sure be happy to be there to see it."
A soft smile came followed by another laugh. He really did want the best for the little aron, he didnt' deserve to be treated any other way. Kei just smiled now, though without seeming to, it seemed that the young boy had managed to already choose which pokemon he wanted to take with him.
The little Eevee just nuzzled happily again Kei, a sound almost similar to a purr seeming to emit from him. He was quite happy to be cuddled, and to find a someone that liked cuddling. He was sure if he took him that they would have lots of fun! How couldn't they?! Just look at how adorable they all were! You just couldn't beat that kind of luck!!! Though when Kenji pet the top of his head, his ears perked up and he rubbed his head against his hand. "Oh pleasssee! I want to come with you guys so much!" His little tail started to wag excitedly. Nurse Joy let out a small chuckle though. This was probably the "calmest" the little Eevee ever had been.
The Aron looked really sad. She thought terribly of herself. Her eyesight really made her useless, didn't it? She couldn't do anything... E-even if he wasn't a trainer... She might still cause all kinds of problems.... Though when Kei spoke, she lifted her head to look up at him. That was the first time anyone other than the Nurse had ever said anything nice to her. H-he wasn't a bad trainer, was he? She felt her slowly inch forward towards him. She really wanted to go with him. She wanted to show him that she could special things too. That she wasn't useless...
The Squirtle started to back off, a smile on his face. It seemed the kid wanted the Eevee and Aron, and he wanted the best for them. So if that was the kid's choice, there were no hard feelings. Papa!Squirtle just wanted the children to be happy, that was all that mattered to him.
Nurse Joy smiled warmly at Kei now. "So have you decided who you want to take?"
